President Bob Is Looking For Rats

President Bob is looking for Rotarians who will provide him with some "fining" material on other Rotarians. In essence he his looking for some persons who will "rat out" other Rotarians. We can all see by his pathetic attempts at fining that he is in desperate need of help at "recognizing" Rotarians for their new vehicles, vacations, promotions, newspaper articles, etc. All those who successfully "rat out" will become eligible for a drawing to be held at the end of Bob's year for a 7 day 3 1/2 night stay at the Ritz-Carlton Maricopa.

Maricopa Update

Last week Homer Higgenbottom and Januvius Winterbottom were in the local coffee shop discussing the state of world affairs. Homer offered, "I ran into the local Army recruiter yesterday and asked him how the recruiting was going. He said recruiting was not going well and that he wasn't going to make his quota. I asked him why he thought people weren't signing up for the Army. He said he thought it might have something to do with their new recruiting slogan 'America sucks, but join the Army because you feel guilty." Januvius responded, "I believe he has a point."

"I suppose you saw that Nancy Pelosi went to Taiwan, and that the Chinese were very upset at her," continued Januvius. "I heard they were so upset that they cut off her supply of ice cream," said Homer. "Wow!" exclaimed Januvius, "That really is serious." Homer contributed, "I also heard that the Chinese have aimed their entire arsenal of BS seeking missiles at the U.S." Januvius retorted, "Then we are safe. If they fire them towards the United States they will go to Washington, D.C. or Sacramento. We won't have anything to worry about in Maricopa." "I love this town!" said Homer.

The Rotary Club of Santa Maria Elevator Speech

We are a leadership organization comprised of local business, civic, and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships, and get things done in our community.

In 2020 we had a virtual fundraiser and raised over $53,000 which we gave to five local charities:

Orcutt Trails

CASA

Casa of Hope

ECHO/Band of Brothers

YMCA

We support the Interact Club at St. Joseph's High School and we donate scholarships to Allan Hancock College.

We clean up Buena Vista Park and with three other Rotary clubs we coordinate the Rotary Christmas Parade.

Come and learn more about our club's humanitarian service and high ethical standards and help us build good will in our community.

1. Is it the truth?

2. Is it fair to all concerned?

3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

First The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

Second High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as on opportunity to serve society;

Third The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

Fourth The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

ROTARIAN CODE OF CONDUCT

The following code of conduct has been adopted for the use of Rotarians:

As a Rotarian, I will

1. Act with integrity and high ethical standards in my personal and professional life

2. Deal fairly with others and treat them and their occupations with respect

3. Use my professional skills through Rotary to: mentor young people, help those with special needs, and improve people's quality of life in my community and in the world

4. Avoid behavior that reflects adversely on Rotary or other Rotarians

5. Help maintain a harassment-free environment in Rotary meetings, events, and activities, report any suspected harassment, and help ensure non-retaliation to those individuals that report harassment.
