Adopt-A-Road Cleanup of Buena Vista Park

We are not meeting in the Kent Room at the Historic Santa Maria Inn this week at 12:10 PM. We will meet at the Campfire Cabin in Buena Vista Park at 12:00 PM. We will clean up the trash at the park for about 1/2 hour, then go to the Santa Maria Inn for lunch.

Medical Update

The American Medical Association confirmed that Carlie Engel does have a heart as he surprised all the women Rotarians with a rose for Valentine's Day.

We understand that Ron Nanning is still in Santa Maria Post Acute. Let's continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers.

Billings

We are making progress on the Autobooks billing system, but we are not perfect. If you believe there is a mistake on your bill please let Ryan or John know. Please do not yell at us as both of us are very sensitive and are apt to cry uncontrollably for weeks on end. It takes us a few weeks after the month is over to get the billings out. So for example you should get your bill for January in the third or fourth week of February.

Maricopa Update

Last week Homer Higgenbottom and Januvius met at the local coffee shop to discuss Valentine's Day. Homer asked, "How did you celebrate Valentine's Day?" Januvius replied, "It was a cold night." "Well, what happened?" inquired Homer. Januvius answered, "My wife gave me a new camouflage baseball hat to celebrate Valentine's Day. Then she asked what I got her. I actually forgot about Valentine's Day. Thinking quickly, but not intelligently, I told her that she already had the best Valentine's Day present in the whole world. I said that she got to wake up every morning next to me. . . . And that's why I spent the night in the garage." Homer reminded Januvius, "I guess you forgot the Four Way Test."

The Rotary Club of Santa Maria Elevator Speech

We are a leadership organization comprised of local business, civic, and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships, and get things done in our community.

In 2020 we had a virtual fundraiser and raised over $53,000 which we gave to five local charities:

Orcutt Trails

CASA

Casa of Hope

ECHO/Band of Brothers

YMCA

We support the Interact Club at St. Joseph's High School and we donate scholarships to Allan Hancock College.

We clean up Buena Vista Park and with three other Rotary clubs we coordinate the Rotary Christmas Parade.

Come and learn more about our club's humanitarian service and high ethical standards and help us build good will in our community.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

Second High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as on opportunity to serve society;

The following code of conduct has been adopted for the use of Rotarians:
