FROM THE MARCH 12th MEETING

GUEST INTRODUCTIONS:  Visiting Rotarian Nick Martinez was asked to
               INTRODUCE HIMSELF to the Club by President Michelle WHO
               WAS LATER FINED for this action.  Nick, from the Pismo Club,
               promoted his Club's Spaghetti Dinner.

ROTARY FAMILY:  Laura Segura issued a last-call for March Madness
               Blood Drive - Tues, March 12th.

AND WE THOUGHT WE KNEW EVERYTHING ABOUT
MARIAN HOSPITAL'S HISTORY AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
DID YOU KNOW:
*  Marian's annual budget is OVER $600 Million!
*  Marian Hospital was founded 80 YEARS ago by Sisters of St. Francis.
*The original hospital at 124 So. College was started with
an investment of $25,000!
*  Marian and French Hospital emergency rooms saw 
99,143 patients last year.  That's 272 patients PER DAY and
11 patients PER HOUR every 24 hour day!!!
*  Marian/Dignity Health operate 35 CLINICS in Santa Maria!
*  Dignity Health provides $20.5 MILLION in "charity care" to include 
medical care for the poor and community health education.
*  The new focus of Marian/Dignity will be to develop a psychiatric care
facility in Santa Maria.  
*  An estimated 18% of our population will experience a mental health
issue in their lives.....that's roughly 20,000 people.

FINES & BRAGS:
     *  Jim Talbott proved again to be a "shameless Grandpa" with his
               brag about his grand daughter's 5th birthday.  Pay $20 Jim.
     *  President Michelle was FINED $20 for her breach of Rotary protocol
               during her Guest Rotarian introduction.
      *  Nancy Gastelum gladly paid her $20 for her participation in the
               "Leading with Love" conference last week.  She also assisted
                the Fine Master in "Ratting Out" conference attendees: Terri
                Lee Coleman, Susan Rees, Alli Borja, and Michelle Shipman
                who each were socked with a $5 fine.
     *  CLUB ANNIVERSARYRick Ellison rounded his Two Year ($2) fine
                to an even $30!  GOOD JOB RICK!!
     *  Scott Dunn took a $20 opportunity to promote his company's 
                Labor Law (3/19) and Sexual Harassment (3/21) seminars.

                                Bring your toiletry samples to the meetings for
                                distribution to Good Samaritan Services and Catholic
                                Charities in April.
     3)  The Club is still recruiting a WEB MASTER for the Club Runner!
