PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

11/20/2018

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Not just because the pilgrims celebrated their first Harvest in October of 1621 and we eat until we can all bust! Mostly because it’s a time to reflect back on the year and think about all of the many things that WE all have to be grateful for!

In honor of this Thanksgiving holiday, I’d like to thank the Rotary Club of Santa Maria for being willing to try some new things, standing up for continuing weekly meetings, and mostly for getting us all through the rumble of pushing through a difficult time and finding a way to come together with solutions for a new day and time.

This club has forged long-term friendships for me and it has forced me far outside of my comfort zone. Thank you for coming along for the ride and helping to shape me. Although the numbers are still being finalized, it appears that we may have raised nearly $70k this year thanks to Cynthia Schur and her Sips Committee. How lucky are we to be able to give nearly $70k back to the community?

For this week’s meeting we are honored with a presentation from Frank Culley on ClubRunner. Frank is going to give us a lesson on how we can access ClubRunner from our SmartPhones, stay connected with each other between meetings, and learn useful tricks to take advantage of the system. The board will be reviewing a credit card processor that works with ClubRunner so we can pay our bills and manage future events by credit card. More to come on that soon…

Our Club experienced a wonderful "Off-Site" lunch at the

"A Street Cafe" on the VTC campus in Santa Maria.

Burgers, Specialty Sandwiches, Stuffed Ravioli, Salads...AND MORE.

A FEAST was had by all!!!

Following our tasty lunch, and once Rick Ellison had cleaned up after finishing his scrumptiously juicy Mushroom Burger, members were taken on a personal tour of the VTC campus by Executive Director and Club Member Jason Telander and LONG-TIME VTC Employee-Extraordinaire, Erika Weber.
