Col. Hough shared an insightful and detailed description of Vandenberg Air Force Base and his role in that base over the last two years under his leadership.  When asked for his #1 achievement, Col. Hough responded by how the base and our nation has "turned ship" and moved from a "Government Led Launch" to the new "Commercial Launch" system.  He also detailed the new role that VAFB may play with the "Space Force", siting the need for our country to prepare itself for "defending our presence in space."
DID YA KNOW....
*  VAFB takes up over 98,000 acres of land and is one of the largest air force base in the US
*  Vandenberg facilitates both commercial satellite and military project launches
*  There are over 11,000 military and civilian personnel on base
*  With both military AND civilian personnel included, VAFB is SB County's LARGEST employer
*  There is one civilian commercial launch company currently working on the base BUT,
there are SEVEN others poised to join the base for launches
CITY OF SANTA MARIA RESOLUTION
Santa Maria Mayor, and Nooontime Rotary Club Member, Alice Patino issued a City Resolution
expressing the City's appreciation for the fabulous leadership role that Colonel Hough
has demonstrated over the past two years of his time with VAFB.

THE "FINE-MASTER" KEN DALLY WAS BACK
and IN RARE FORM!!!
FINES, BRAGS AND "RAT-OUTS"

Brags:
Ali Borja:  Rightfully bragged about her son, Jeremiah Silva, who just
completed US Marine Corp basic training and is heading to his first
                      assignment.
                      Oorah and Be Safe Jeremiah!
Birthdays:
Fred Sanders on July 1st...."July Fool's Day"....his table paid his fine.
Hardy Hearn....thanks to the argument that ensued over Hardy's "Honorary"
versus "Member" status, this reporter could not tell what the                                 fine outcome was.
Club Anniversaries:
Hardy Hearn....19-Years!!!!!!!  Again, pandemonium ensued; no clue on fine.
      Fred Sanders...33-Years!!!!  Fred volunteered a $100 fine!
Ron Nanning...33-Years!!!!  Ron volunteered to round his fine DOWN to $30.
Fred Donati....40-Years!!!  Fred took the lead with his 40-Year term and
                             volunteered a $50 fine!
Rotary Magazine Trivia
When quizzed about an article in the June edition that described the fundraiser used by some colder-than-heck state (Wisconsin???), the following $10 fines were issued for those who OBVIOUSLY failed to read the article:
Jim Talbott - for guessing something about selling iron nails????
Tommy Martinez - simply gave up and paid.
Carl Engel - guessed ice fishing???
Fred Sanders - guessed ice carving???
The Answer was....the Club parks a car on the ice then holds a raffle for the person(s) that guess the correct day and time the next spring that the car breaks through the melting ice....okay....WATCHING ICE MELT---kinda like watching paint dry???
